Citizenship Module

The classroom response system is ideal for the delivery and assessment of the Citizenship curriculum. With this in mind Votech and the Commonwealth Secretariat have produced an interactive module to support the teaching resource
A Family of Nations. It provides interactive quizzes and worksheets supporting the various lessons and a format for the class to hold its own interactive Youth Caucus Meeting. Pupils can use the system for electing Chairman and Secretary and voting sessions to enable decision making. The same format could be used in a variety of situations in school enabling pupil participation in the classroom and democracy of the school. Best of all its FUN!

The Family of Nations Interactive Teaching Resource can be purchased separately for £99.00 ex vat which includes a copy of the Pupil's book, Teacher's Resource Book and Interactive Module.

The Commonwealth: A Family of Nations By Ms. Liz Paren, Ms. Caroline Coxon, Miss. Cheryl Dorall Addressing a long-standing gap in the market, this book is aimed at 12-16 year olds. There are many people living in Commonwealth countries and beyond who know little about this 54-member grouping of nations. The Commonwealth matters because it stands for the principles and values of democracy, respect for human rights, the rule of law, peace, justice, co-operation and for sustainable development. The book, written in a clear, accessible style and colourfully illustrated throughout, has been written to tell young people about the Commonwealth. It explains how the association came into being and how it developed into what it is today; about why it matters; what it does for ordinary people; and especially its relationship with young people. Many of its wide-ranging activities and projects are described. The book includes chapters on the role of the Commonwealth, how it works, the Commonwealth Games, countries of the Commonwealth, and its relationship with younger generations. The Commonwealth recognises that its future lies with the young people of the Commonwealth. There are many ways to be involved in its family of nations. Focusing on young people and their role as Commonwealth citizens both today and in the future, this title will be an invaluable teacher resource for the citizenship curriculum, for educationalists and for NGO s.
